NuWave Oven Recipes: Turkey
You can cook up to a 16 pound turkey with the extender ring.
Fresh turkey takes 12 minutes a pound. (Example: 3 hours and 12 minutes without stuffing for a 16 pound turkey. and an additional 48 to 64 minutes with stuffing).
Frozen Turkeys are 15 minutes per pound.
Again, add 3 to 4 minutes per pound if the turkey is stuffed.
To get the bag out of the turkey when starting from frozen, place the turkey breast-side down. Cook the turkey for half of the calculated time, flip the turkey over, then remove the bag. Season the side that’s now up.
For fresh turkey, it’s the same. Cook for half the calculated time, then flip it over and re-season.
Turkey rub: put Olive oil all over the turkey. Get a little in the cavity. Add 1Tbsp Paprika, Salt and Pepper over the fat parts. Then rub it all in.
To stuff, use onion, carrots, celery and garlic inside the cavity.
Put turkey on oven rack breast side down. Shorter, fatter turkeys fit better. Rub in spices where you couldn’t reach before.
Cook for 1/2 of the calculated time. (based on the weight which we mentioned above)
Flip.
Continue for remainder of time. If the skin starts getting too dark and you have a lot of time remaining, you can cover the turkey with some parchment paper and continue until done. The turkey should be 170 to 180 degrees. To measure the temperature, put the thermometer deep in the breast sideways and ensure the juice is clear and runny.
Let bird sit for 1/2 hour to an hour.
